Styling Short (Tapered) Natural Hair

Lots of people think if your hair is short, you have limited styling options.

That’s absolutely false!

Since I’ve cut my hair, I’ve styled it in so many ways.

When I first got it done, the stylist used the finger coil method to create these defined curls. She used a professional curling wax that had a really strong hold. To manipulate the curls I spritzed it with water and molded my hair in the shape I wanted.

The easiest way to style my hair has been two-strand flat twists. They give me a fuller look and on wash day it’s the easiest way to set my hair to dry.

For a softer look, I opt to use perm rods to create beautiful spiral curls. I set them on dry hair using the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Frizz Free Styling Foam. The foam is super light and my hair can set in under an hour without using heat.

In recent days, I decided to straighten my hair. I used the Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler. The blow dryer worked well and left my hair straight and manageable. (Full review coming soon) I flat ironed my hair on low and then pinned curled my hair to achieve these results.

So far, I love my short hair. It has literally cut my wash and dry time in half.
