How to Maximize Your Planner

Planning is a super easy and helpful way to stay organized. If you're anything like me, you absolutely need a planner because without one you'd be a hot mess!

When I first started planning, I was overwhelmed! When do I write in this thing? Why does it have so many pages? How is it going to keep me organized? Here are a few ways I maximize my planner!

Plan Yearly

At the beginning of the year, I go through each month of my planner and write important dates that won't change. I include birthdays, weddings, vacations, anniversaries, holidays and anything else that has a permanent date. This way, when a new month approaches I already know what I have to plan around.

Plan Monthly

On the first day of each month I take the time to think about my monthly goals. What do I want to accomplish this month? (I write this in the notes section). Next, I write in important events, appointments and commitments. For instance for the month of February, I know my son has an orthodontist appointment, I have to work late 2 nights, and I have book club. I also take the time to write in my monthly blogging schedule.

Plan Weekly

Sunday morning at 7am is my planning time. Everyone is asleep, the house is quiet and I can think clearly! First, I write in my weekly goals and meal plans. Next, I write in due dates, things I need to remember and large tasks I need to complete. These include things like, "laundry day", "call dad" or "watch Scandal."

Plan Daily

On a daily basis I create a To-Do list within my planner. I include work, business and personal things on my list. Throughout the day, I rigorously cross things off and feel accomplished.

Plan in the Moment

When life happens and things don't go as planned, I don't panic. Well at least most times I don't panic. I readjust my schedule and get back on track as soon as possible.

I really hope this was helpful. In the comments below, tell me how you stay organized or use your planner.
