The New Year has arrived and many people are making resolutions. While some consider it cliche, I think the beginning of the year is a great time to plan for and execute new things. While these aren’t traditional resolutions, here are a few things I’m going to implement this year:
I want to save more! With our new bundle of joy on the way and an apartment that only seems to be getting smaller, purchasing a new home in the near future is definitely a must. Although we save throughout the year adding an additional method to our savings plan can’t hurt. A very popular one I’m trying this year is the 52 Week Money Challenge. I’m sure you’ve seen this online before. It’s a pretty simple way to bank $1300 over the course of the year.
This year I also want to make the conscious decision to be grateful everyday. Throughout the course of the year, we’re all going to have those days that don’t seem to go right, but even on those days, there’s beauty. To help with this, I’m going to keep a gratitude journal. At the end of each day I’m going to write an entry about something I’m grateful for. On New Years Eve, I’ll take the time to read through each page and reflect on my year.
A few years ago I was in love with the idea of using a planner. I would update it religiously and use it for every aspect of my life. During that time I was more organized and my days felt less chaotic. This year I want to get back into using a planner. Specifically, I've started to use the Passion Planner. It's a really cool planner that allows you to plan, reflect and refocus your daily, weekly and monthly goals. It's a great way to stay focused and on track to make those dreams a reality. Instead of purchasing the actual planner, I opted to print it and have it bound at Staples for $6. I absolutely love this planner.
