Big Chop | February 26, 2015

I was in the bathroom minding my own business, trying to co-wash my hair and my curls wouldn’t leave me alone. The combination of wet hair and conditioner made my new growth look glorious. The next thing I knew I had a comb and a pair of scissors in hand! At first I cut off a few strands just to see how my hair would look without the relaxed ends. Then, a few strands turned into a couple hundred strands and I was in too deep!

Although this is my third big chop, I was in shock when I looked at myself in the mirror. To have shoulder length hair at 9:30pm and a short afro at 9:45pm was a bit drastic – but I’m glad I did it.

I literally have no idea what I’m going to do with my hair. Should I rock my TWA or do a braided protective style? The last time I big chopped I wore comb coils and braids for the first four months. It was easy to manage and it allowed my hair to grow without much manipulation. Decisions… I’m sure I’ll spend my entire weekend thinking about this though.

I feel a sense of newness! There is something about cutting your hair off! Like Tony the Tiger – I FEEL GREAT!

Till next time.

XOXO

Louise
