Motivational Affirmations

I am a firm believer in being positive and living a complaint free life. But as human beings it is sometimes easy to fall prey to complaining and negative thinking. We can, as they say, “get in our feelings and get stuck there.” In those moments of vulnerability it is always good to affirm yourself and think positively.

Affirmations are declarations that you are claiming to be true about your life. When you read, reflect and internalize affirmations, you strengthen your mind and emotional state. You essentially become your affirmation. If you don’t believe me, try it! I can attest to times when I’ve felt unmotivated, sad or uninspired and I’ve used affirmations to encourage myself.

On different days, I may need different things. Some days I affirm myself through music, other days, it’s the bible and on other days it may be a motivational video or quote on my vision board. It doesn’t matter the source of your affirmation, what matters is the time you take to reflect on and internalize the words you’re saying.

Here are some things that have been great sources of encouragement for me.

1.

2. Roar by Katy Perry

3. 2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

4. Go Get It by Mary Mary

5.

6. I am POWERFUL

7. Just Do You by India Arie

8. Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

9. Motivation: "What About Me?"/Don't bother the Master|Bronzegoddess01

10. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? - Marianne Williamson

When you think of affirmations, most people think of short phrases like number 6 on this list – I am POWERFUL. And you’re right! But within a song, poem, motivational video or quote you can always take away a small part to use as a source of encouragement. For instance, in Katy Perry’s Roar, the phrase “Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar,” is an affirmation I love to use! It’s a powerful statement within itself!

There is definitely value in speaking positivity in your life through affirmations.

I hope you guys get the jist of what I’m trying to say and that affirming yourself becomes a part of your daily lives.
